The Eastern Arcature

It is the only arcature on its side, located in the estern end of the yard of the Dome of the Rock which lies in the heart of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It was porbably established during the Ummayd period, and rebuilt during the Abbasi period in the 10^th century AD\ 4^th Hijri.

It views the western slopes of Mount of Olives. Moreover, it is considered the biggest arcature around the yard of the Dome of the Rock as it is made of two huge hinges and four cyliderical marble pillars. In addition, the height of the arcature reaches 6.5 meters and there are twenty-two steps and another 3 which connect the eastern yard of the mosque with the yard of the Dome of the Rock.
